In the fifth episode of the 6th season of Outliers, we meet George Varvarelis, Co-founder and CEO of Augmenta, a deep-tech company leveraging artificial intelligence and computer vision to bring precision and efficiency to global agriculture.
Together with his co-founder, Dimitris Evangelopoulos, George founded Augmenta in 2017, transforming a university research project into a real-world technological solution for farmers. With a clear vision, strong technical expertise, and a 60-person team across Europe and the United States, they led the company to one of Greece’s most notable tech exits - its $110 million acquisition by CNH Industrial.
Today, George serves as Head of Engineering for CNH Industrial’s Global Sense and Act Division, leading multi-regional engineering teams developing cutting-edge technologies that define the future of smart farming.
Holding a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Thessaly, and inspired by his early experiences on his family’s corn farm, George combines deep technical knowledge with genuine agricultural insight - exemplifying how Greek innovation can make a global impact.
